Coming of Age | Baroque Girl Guides

The fierce idealism of teenage girls is explored through mashups of Girl Guides and appropriated art historical images of Baroque martyred saints- fiercely stubborn young women, prepared to die for what they believed in, a stubborn adherence to a worldview shared by my contemporary adolescent subjects. Each sitter provided me with a selfie to use as a reference, determining how they wished to be seen as they navigated the new experience of being looked at as a woman.
